I just sent Prego a nasty complaint about something strange I bit into... I'm bringing it to my zoology class on Monday so someone can help me figure out what the hell it is and if I need to go to a doctor. I was eating some spaghetti and I bit into something exceedingly sharp and painful. I spit it out and thought it was a seed at first, until I realized that it was flat on both ends (cylindrical). I got to looking at it and I realized that it had spikes going all the way around it... so I pulled out my dissecting kit, laid it out on a tissue and pulled it apart. It took a lot more pulling than I thought it would (that outside part was really tough). More pointy stuff unfurled from it, as did a cream/yellowish wormy thing (dead... I think). Anyway, it looks like a fish skelleton but flat. It's dark brown and the smaller part that unfurled from the middle is a reddish brown color. It's pretty small, but it hurt like hell when I bit into it, so I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been good for my digestive tract. If it gives you any idea how tough the outside part is, i bit into it with my molars and it still held it's shape. What if there were more? I've been eating spaghetti sauce from this particular jar for the past week (I cook enough for one meal, drain the water, and put some sauce on top but I only heat it until it's steamy). I've never had these problems with Classico or Bertolli. I'm never buying cheap pasta sauce again... I wish I had a camera, I'd post a picture. It's pretty weird looking whatever the hell it is.
